Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Swatches & Review

I know I am in a late wagon here but to defend myself, before I ever buy a new makeup product I just want to research for a moment & think it through because :

            A) I have already tons of bronzers in my makeup collection
            B) I don't want to waste my money in buying something that I will regret later on

aaand

         C) If ever I will buy it, when will I ever use it because - refer again to my first reason hahaha.

Last year 2017, one of the makeup trends in the runway was less is more in applying makeup, meaning let your skin breathe, no highlighter, contours & blushes just either bold eyes or bold lips. But what about those people, including myself, who've experienced some dryness or blemished skins like a bad hair day? Or like me who have a very dull skin or when you didn't have enough beauty sleep or feeling unwell & yet you want to look glow-y & fresh? Aaaannnnd THAT'S my friend is  when bronzers & blushes & highlighters comes in but then what about the trend??? If you are concious of it? It's fine if you're not but what if?!?!

In my case, I will look in my collection for makeup that not only helps me look fresh & dewy (which the look I like the most rather than matte or dramatic) but also, helps improves my skin. It's a 2 in 1 right?

That's what I found in this product. The Physician's Formula Murumuru butter bronzer. I've been eyeing this for a while ever since they've introduced this in the makeup industry & I was suddenly curious of the word Murumuru? I've never heard of this word before, it's my first time. So, I looked at the internet for it's benefits. Guess what?! This is such a wonder! It's a moisturizer to the skin! Leaves a protective layer to the skin like silicone only it doesn't clog pores. Contains Pro Vitamin A which helps restore elasticity to damaged & aging skin & makes highly suitable ingredient for use in anti-aging formulations. It's also a soothing addition intended to heal dry & cracked skin, eczema & psoriasis. Talk about retinol baby! It's not only beneficial to skin but also to hair because it nourishes hair & have moisture sealing properties & boost hair's shine like coconut oil.

Now, let's jump to the product shall we?

Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer

Packaging : It has a bulking packaging. It has palm printed design but the center of the cover is transparent where you can easily see the shade of the product which I love the most in a product packaging. A plastic case that is opened & closed in snap like. A "Butter Bronzer" printed in a handwritten like on the center.

The shade that I chose is in Light Bronzer because I want this as an all over bronzer but not a contour one. At the bottom of the package, the shade, net weight & the company is printed.

Net weight : 0.38 Oz / 11 g which is a slight heavier comparable to a MAC compact.

When you open, the product  has this wave-y design which reminds me of MAC's extra dimension skinfinish. It has this vanilla coconut scent which one of the scents that I love so much aside from citrus-y.

Underneath the product itself is another where you will find a mirror & a sponge-y applicator which for me is of no use. I prefer a fluffy brush than this, to be honest.

A mild coconut scent can be smelled upon applying it on my face & lasts for 2 to 3 hours. As you can see on my swatch, it's so light & there's some powdery form upon dabbing my brush on the pan. This shade is perfect for light / fair skin tone. It has a satin-matte finish so perfect for a fresh glow on the tops of your cheekbones or a blush for those medium skin ones. This shade is also good for those heavy handed as I am too! Haha.

So, have you tried Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer?

ELF Baked Bronzer in St. Lucia

One of the drugstore brand that I love & know that's cruelty free is ELF Cosmetics. From time to time I checked on their website for new products & everytime I checked, new interesting products were posted that made me so excited to try it immediately. When they introduced their Baked Bronzer line a few months ago, without any second thoughts I bought one. The time my order arrived I was so happy to test it out. Oh, ELF you never cease to amaze me.

Packaging : It comes in a small domed, see through plastic lid & lies in a black base.

The Net Weight of the product is 0.21 oz / 6 g which is written on the box as well as the ingredients.

The shade that I got is St. Lucia. The shade of the baked bronzer is located underneath the product. Wish it was written a little bigger to read easily.

I just hope the packaging is a little thick to prevent from slipping from your fingers because it's hard to open.

It's a light satiny brown with a little shimmer. Of all the 3 shades available, this is the light of all & with a tad bit of orange undertone. For a drugstore brand, the product is so pigmented. This is a product that you can use it an all over bronzer or a blush like the famous Harmony blush from MAC though it's more matte while this one has shimmer on it.

How about you? Have you tried ELF's baked bronzer?

Thanks for stopping by!

Mary Ann

Dupes Galore : Chanel Bronze Universal

A few posts ago, I posted actually, a late post, my swatches & review on Chanel Bronze Universal. A lot of beauty gurus said that they have found dupes or alternative drugstore brand with the same texture, finish & shade. So, as I go through my treasure trove to check if I have the products they said are dupes & began to swatch them side by side.

The first is the W7 Makeup & Glow Bronzing Base.

On the left is Chanel Bronze Universal & on the right is the W7 Bronzing Base

Swatches : On the left is Chanel Soleil de Tan Bronze Universal & on the right is W7 Make Up & Glow Bronzing Base that is a tad bit browner & darker in shade than Chanel which is more golden, orange-y shade.

Another they say dupe is the Bourjois Bronzing Primer , which I have already done a swatch & product review post.

Now, here are the 3 cream bronzers. Clockwise from the top - W7 Make Up & Glow Bronzing Base, Bourjois Bronzing Primer & Chanel Soleil de Tan Bronze Universal.

A closer swatch of the cream bronzers side by side. As you can see Bourjois is a tad bit darker & browner while W7 is slightly lighter than Chanel but you can between the 2, W7 is much closer dupe to Chanel than Bourjois.

There you have guys. Hope the swatches above helps & the camera did  justice in capturing the shades.

Thank you for dropping by!

Is that chocolate I smell on that bronzer???

These past few days I've been into contouring especially cream bronzers (as you can see on my previous posts). I find applying cream bronzer especially after you applied your foundation, it blends so well & smoothly. Also, it's a perfect to use during summer days when it was so hot! One of the cream bronzers that I come to love is Bourjois Bronzing Primer.

Packaging : It comes in a plastic jar, the cap is in a brownish chocolate-y color.

Bourjois is another UK high street brand that can be really compared to high end brands. The product has a light milk chocolate scent which is a plus for me (you know how I love chocolates). I've come to know this brand watching from the Pixiwoo sisters (how I love their videos & them!)

Net Weight : 18 ml / 0.6 oz.

At the back of the jar you will see the ingredients of the product used.

The product is so pigmented that using just a little gives a right amount in contouring. When you pick it up it's a little creamy but when you start to apply & blend, it quickly becomes liquid-y for an easy application & blending on your skin. As you can see from the swatch below, a brownish chocolate shade with orange undertone that leans to golden color. I use synthetic brushes like the real techniques brushes, they are so great in cream products.

You may want to check this out guys! Tell me what you think?

W7 Make Up & Glow Bronzing Base

Since Chanel introduced their cream bronzer called Soleil de Tan Bronze Universal & it became a hype to those beauty enthusiasts (including me). Lots of high street brand cosmetics introduced their cream bronzer version & one of them is W7 cosmetics which is a UK brand. I was lucky I was able to possess this little gem.

Packaging : Comes in a small frosted glass like jar with a sleek shiny black cap & their logo was engraved in gold located at the center of the cap.

At the back of the box is the description & the usage as well as where is their headquarters.

Net Weight : 35 g

Underneath the jar, the ingredients of the product, usage, net weight are printed.

The shade has a little orange-y color, a light medium brown shade.

The texture is smooth & has a matte finish. Downside is that it's not sold here. You have to look for a supplier or reseller that sells UK brand cosmetics.

Thank you for dropping by!

Chanel Bronze Universal - A Late Post

Ever since I started doing makeup, I've learned a lot of things, tips & tricks & techniques in applying. I've also become aware of the brand cosmetics from high end down to drugstore products. One of the beauty gurus that I started following are the Pixiwoo sisters up until now. I've learned a lot from them & they made my love for makeup become a passion. In  one of their makeup tutorial videos, I saw them using this product. The Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronze Universal. Actually it's one of my wish list and I've been eyeing this for a while since Chanel introduced this cream bronzer a few months ago (I can't remember when) but it became a hype in the beauty community that a lot of high street brand especially in the UK introduced their own version of this cream bronzer. A little history here, the brand Chanel is a French, privately held company owned by Alain & Gerard Wertheimer - the grandsons of Pierre Wertheimer who was an early business partner of the couturiere Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel or she was better known as Coco Chanel (the founder, founded in the year 1909) where the headquarters are located at Paris France, we know as the Fashion Capital of the world.

Packaging : Comes in a sleek frosted jar, the cap is shiny black with the Chanel logo engraved in the center.

Net Weight : 30 g / 1 oz.

After opening the cap, another plastic cap is placed before you will be able to see the product.

Awwww, isn't it soooo pretty?

The product have a slight common lotion-y scent. A little powdery scent that I can't quite pin p

The shade is a light to medium brown but you can see a little orange-y under tone in it. This is mainly the reason why I am having second thoughts in buying this product & it took me a while before I did cave in because I do have a heavy hand &  it scared me a lot that I would end up looking like an oompa loompa. Another reason is that it's so expensive compared to other high street brand. It also got me thinking what if I end up not liking it, it would be a waste of money right?

Final Thoughts : I am so, so happy that I cave in & bought this beautiful gem. It's worth it! The product is so pigmented which means I little goes a long, long way!

Thank you for dropping by!

A Secret to My Summer Glow!

There are times when we experience having a dull face or sometimes feeling unwell. When it seems you look so pale and haggard looking (aaaahhh!-not good). This is one of my secret in looking so refresh and as if I had a wonderful beauty rest. The secret is applying a bronzer and one that I've been using is Urban Decay Baked Bronzer in Gilded.

Urban Decay released their baked bronzer a few years ago and sadly, this was discontinued. I'm glad I was able to get my hands this. I first saw this bronzer was used by one of the Pixiwoo sisters - Sam. I love how the end looks after she applied it.

At first, I thought bronzers are only for contouring but I was wrong. As more bronzers added to my stash, I got different shades, undertone and finish that got me thinking that some of them are not good for contouring because they have a slight shimmer on it while some are matte.

Packaging : The product comes in a compact in a bronze gold color. The lid had a gold colored oriental design and the Urban Decay's logo, the word baked printed in a script font while the word bronzer in all capital letters - all of the 3 are in blue colored print.

Net Weight : 7.5 g / 0.26 US oz.

Shade : Comes in 3 shades : Toasted which has a matte finish, Baked which has a pinkish gold shimmer - semi-shimmer finish and Gilded which I have, has a brownish shade with golden shimmer - a shimmer - satiny finish.

See how lovely the design on the lid? I just love it!

This is a few golden veins on it which reminds me so much of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish. Although, other bronzers like this I've seen from other bloggers' pictures have different veinings so it has a different finish to it when swatched.

The texture is smooth and buttery but since I have most of the gold shimmer veins the finish has more shimmery.

It has a golden undertone and a more brown shade and less orangey which I prefer because of my yellow skin tone. I applied this as an all over bronzer (on the tops of my cheekbones, on my forehead,  on my nose and chin) and sometimes I applied it on my cheeks then a blush of the day on top and it gives an amazing glow and finish! This can be worn wet or dry.

Do you have one of the Urban Decay baked bronzer? If so, what shade?

Thanks for stopping by!
