Anger - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly & Effects

Anger, according to Merriam Webster Dictionary is a strong feeling of displeasure and usually of antagonism. To Wikipedia, it is an intense emotional response. It is an emotion that involves a strong uncomfortable and emotional response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat. To us, it is just a simple meaning of strong emotion towards a person or uncontrollable situation. But nevertheless, we feel this kind of emotion often which is normal. But, do be careful. Anger is not just normal anger.
In this post, I will tackle the different kinds of anger.

Anger - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. . .

The Good . . .

Anger helps us express what's really inside us. It is somehow a way to show or tell someone of your feelings towards them. Anger is also a way of motivation that something needs to change. What's good about anger is that we can easily express our feelings. Do you remember that time when you have a hard time telling to a person or persons exactly how you feel that it builds up inside you & when you can't control it, it suddenly bursts open & that's when that person (s) realized how wrong he/she towards you?

The Bad . . .

Anger, when letting yourself control it, can stop or prevent your mind in thinking reason like, how can you move on or forgive yourself or someone if you are angry at yourself/someone? Or how can you think straight when you let anger control you? It also can be used by manipulation strategy. Like, someone would use your anger for his/her purpose to get what he/she wants. If you also use anger, you would end up hurting not only physically but emotionally to someone or to your loved one(s).

The Ugly . . .

Anger, when lost in control or you let yourself be controlled by anger is also not good. It leads to more serious situation. Violence, hatred & feeling of revenge came from anger. It can hurt the people around whether they are your loved ones or friends - either emotionally or physically that later on you felt remorse.

Some Effects . . .

This also leads to illness because it releases hormones like adrenaline and cortisol from our bodies. Have you experienced headache or backache? Or sometimes high blood pressure after getting angry or feeling of tiredness or stress or simply feeling all of your energies been drained down? These are some health problems affected by ANGER.
Psychologically, it dramatically changes one's behavior like drinking problems or confidence or self-esteem, depression or worse, substance abuse or self-injury because when angry it reduces your threshold of pain.
So, when you feel anger better calm yourself down before you let it control you.

15 Other Ways to Beat Stress...

In my previous post, I have tackled about Stress & what are the things to do when experiencing it. You can check that post in my blog HERE.

Now, here are some other ways to deal STRESS. I have listed 15 other ways to beat that STRESS!

TAKE A NAP
One of the reason that you are stressed is that you lack sleep. When you lack sleep, you feel your body is heavy & you easily gets irritated when you have to force yourself to work or do something right? So, if you have nothing to do for that day try to take a nap, studies say that for every 20 minutes nap you take in a day equals to an hour of evening sleep. Whether this is true or false, at least it really feels so good when you wake up after a nap.

WATCH A MOVIE
Set aside the cause of your stress & try to watch a movie - any movie that you love to watch. This would help you forget about what's causing you to stress & clearing your mind for a while.

LISTEN TO MUSIC
Have you noticed when you are doing something while listening to your favorite music or playlists makes your workload much easier & much quicker? In my experience, it really works.

LIGHT A CANDLE
What's your favorite scented candle? What do you feel if you light it up? It affects your mood & lifts up your senses. It also helps you to relax your body.

CALL A FRIEND
Having someone to talk to is really feels good. Telling your frustrations, disappointments, stress in life is a relief knowing someone is listening & giving you advice helps you a lot.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Just by exercising like walking, running or doing some sports activity helps you feel much better with your life. It puts you off from stress awhile & prepares you to be positive in dealing your stress.

HAVE A QUIET TIME
Sit cozily in your fave chair or sofa & look around you. Listen to the sound of nature while drinking your favorite drink makes you realize how life is beautiful.

TAKE A HOBBY
What things that caught up your attention lately? Or do you have a hobby like drawing or sketching, writing a story. Take a hobby that really interests you.

HAVE A MASSAGE
Having a body massage once in a while releases the stress that's already in your body. This helps circulate blood flows throughout your body, also, helps you to have a great good night's sleep.

DO A FACIAL
Another stress buster is to go to a facial center & have a facial. This helps regulates blood flows in your face that after having a facial, your face looks even more fresh & radiant.

READ A BOOK
Do you have a favorite book or a book that you've been wanting to read for quite some time? Then, go get that book. Sit or lie on your bed comfortably while reading. It helps your mind to be more imaginative or learn a thing or two.

PLAY A GAME
Go play some game, whether an online game or PC game or mobile. Your mind will have something to focus on away from your stress.

HAVE A PET
Having a pet is one of the best thing in life. Studies also proves that it helps ease loneliness, depression & lowers blood pressure. They are always there to be your companion & also, whenever you need a hug.

GO TO A SALON
Going to salon & have a manicure or pedicure helps relax your body. One way of meeting new friends who loves that same thing you loves. It helps you forget a while of the things that causes you to stress.

SMILE OR LAUGH
Laughter, they say is the best medicine. Go watch a funny movie or TV show. Though it's silly for someone seeing you laughing alone but after a good watch of funny show & laughing for a while makes your spirits high & having a light feeling right?

Stressed??? How to beat it... 12 Things to do when stressed plus a bonus

You thought you have nothing else to do at work because you have done everything yesterday when suddenly, telephones ringing left & right. Your boss just gave a deadline while your other supervisors gave you tasks. Then, someone from the other department suddenly came in front of your table asking you for your report. You suddenly gets irritated because as you finish one task, two or three tasks were given. Irritation becomes anger until you can't handle it that you snapped! Now what?! Feeling stressed right? Well, I feel that way too almost everyday at work. You think you are the only one who have loads of work when others feel the same way as you.
We experienced being stressed every single day. It's part of our lives whether good or bad it's how we deal with it. Have you experienced after you felt stressed by the end of the day, you felt so tired when you try to recall what you did a few hours you were surprised to realized that you only did a few ones!
We experienced stress not only at work but in other things like, feeling tense or nervous or being pressure as a student. Or at home your parents gave you instructions to clean the house or take care of your brother or sister or sometimes from your friends. When being stressed take out of control we may hurt physically or emotionally  ourselves or sometimes other people we love & care about.

Here are things to do . . . some from my experience & some from research that helps me.

So, how do we deal STRESS?

First, we must know the . . .

CAUSE

Find out what causes you to Stress? Work load? Traffic jams? Do you have illness? Emotional problems like anger that you can't express, depression, guilt or low self esteem. Family problems, peer pressure or jobless. Worrying for something?
Pinpoint what triggers you to feel stress.

Then . . .

STOP

Stop first what you're doing or what you're feeling that causes you to stress. Just for a few minutes. Take a walk or take a few minutes break.

And then . . .

ACCEPTANCE

Yes, accept. Now that you've known the cause, learn to accept it & find a way to avoid it.

Take a deep . . .

BREATHE

After you pinpoint the "stressor(s)" or the "cause(es)" of your stress. Close your eyes & take a deep breath. Inhale, breathing in using your nose, count to 10 seconds & slowly breathe it out from your mouth. Do this again until you feel your body relaxed.

And  . . .

CLEAR YOUR MIND

While breathing slowly, try to clear your mind  of the stress. Think that you want to start your day fresh & new.

Do . . .

LIST IT DOWN

Get a pen & paper. List down all the things you need to finish. Write down from the most important to least important or which one has a nearest deadline. Stop trying to memorize everything inside your head you might forget one or two tasks that makes you more stressed. From the easiest to the hardest tasks. Which one you can easily done in a few minutes or an hour? Then, cross them out when you've done a task. It feels good when you see you've crossed out a lot of tasks from your lists right?

That's when time management comes in . . .

MANAGE YOUR TIME

You can't avoid in between / non-stop  instruction(s) coming from your boss or supervisors or what it calls "mga singit singit na utos". If you can do those simple in-between tasks then do it. Don't try the "I'll do it later" (mamaya na lang) behaviour.

Take it . . .

STEP BY STEP

Do your task one step at a time. Try not to do a multi-tasking job if you can't handle it. You'll eventually finish it on time.

You're not a Super Woman . . .

DON'T BE A LONE RANGER

You have the list, you have categorized which needs a little time & which needs a lot of your time. For those tasks that needs a lot of your time try to break it down & if you think you can't do it alone, ask for someone's help. Sometimes for us getting some help from someone means we are incapable of doing things. We let our pride get in our way which is a wrong approach because we are inviting more stress.

Try to  . . .

LEARN TO SAY "NO"

Yes... saying "NO" can save you from being stress like at work when you can't do it or you don't know how to do it then say so, at least you told them beforehand than accepting it that would end up in failure.

Learn  to . . .

FORGIVE

But what if,  you can't avoid to say "no"? Then, before hand don't commit. Tell him/her that you will try your best. Don't be so overconfident to yourself too! If you fail then forgive yourself &  learn from your mistake or mistakes.

Try to . . .

DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE

What do you love to do?

Me, whenever I am feeling stressed especially at work. I listened to music, that makes me works faster without time pressure. It's effective to me or sometimes, I stop in between after finishing a task or two & try to read newspaper or emails for a few minutes then, I go back either where I left off (if my task takes a lot of time) or do my next task.

Another thing . . .

DIARY

Have a stress diary, this is one way of knowing your stressor(s).

Hope this post helps you.

What are your stress busters? Love to hear them from you.
